  22. I am using a 1228 MB Western Digital Caviar AC31200F 3.5" E-IDE drive
  23. and have not encountered any problems with it.

  25. Problems  eventually arising are caused by my Conner CFA 340A which is a
  26. really   stupid   IDE  drive.  Disconnects  on  reset  if  not  jumpered
  27. differently, refuses to work as slave...

  29. If  my  WDCAC  is  a  single  drive, there are no problems at all (it is
  30. widely  known  that  Conner  drives  are  not  very  compatible in slave
  31. recognition if the slave is not a Conner drive). If I need to get it to
  32. work together with my Conner, Conner is Master, WD is Slave, and I need
  33. to reboot once after power-up. After any succeeding reset, both drives
  34. are mounted; on power-up only the slave).

  38. BRIEFLY: There should be no problems with 1 GB IDE drives in A4000s.
